- Introduction
The Centry II is a self contained GPS receiver with a built in packet modem and transceiver that creates a stand-alone solution for Automatic Vehicle Location applications. The Centry II is equipped with an internal GSM / GPRS transceiver. The local GPS output can be used for real time, in-vehicle position display on a Laptop using Pyramid Communications Street Light Mapping Software; drivers know where they are at all times. Real time position monitoring allows the unit to report as soon as the driver speeds, stops the vehicle, begins moving again, or changes direction.
- Automatic Vehicle Tracking Storage
Each GPS update is stored in non-volatile E²PROM memory for later recall and playback. The Centry II is able to store 1024 position fixes including date, time, speed heading, I/O status and position fix within 50 feet. The data is stored in a circular queue with the oldest data being overwritten with each new position fix. The Centry II can store more than 85 hours worth of data at 5 minute update intervals
For mobile data applications, the Centry II is plug & play with the Kenwood KDS-100 MDT that provides text messaging status reports and canned messages. The KDS-100 provides up to 40 status indications, multiple text and canned messages and selective call capabilities. Together with the GPS capabilities of the Centry II this combination provides a complete dispatch solution.
- Programmable Inputs/Outputs
The Centry II has 6 general purpose I/O lines (3 inputs/3 outputs) that can be used to monitor vehicle parameters or remote vehicle control. The individual inputs can be programmed for special functions: Input 1 can be programmed for Emergency transmission to alert dispatch in the event of an in-vehicle emergency situation. Input 2 can be used for GPS on demand that will send a position fix when ever a switch is closed and/or opened. Input 3 can be used for CODE 3 input to change the update rate from slow to fast.
